It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter P. Waitt of Greenfield, Indiana, born in Sheridan, Indiana, who passed away on December 9, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ilo Waitt (Pritsch) and Noble Waitt; his sister Winifred Parvu; his former wife Ann Waitt (Lowe); his wife Janet Waitt (Jacobi); and his son-in-law Jim Flake.

He is survived by: his children, Mindy Hunnicutt (Andy), Tammy Fox (Fred), Salliann Flake and John Waitt (Jennifer); his stepson Jeff Kindred (Shelli); and his grandchildren, Jacob (Mel), Amanda, Abby, Rebecca Hunnicutt, Savannah, Chase Sturm (Madison), Trace Flake, Ann, Demi, Olivia Waitt, Emilie Grass (Jesse) and Madison Kindred. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Community Foundation – The Walter Waitt Family Community Development Fund, 312 E. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or the Hancock County Regional Hospital Foundation, 801 N. State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.

“Walter Waitt is one of the finest men I have ever met. I had the priviledge to work fo him and have tried to model his dedication to family and community. He also taught me a great deal that I used in my career. It is not surprising that he raised four wonderful children and made mjor contributions to Southern Hancock Schools and Hancock County 4-H. I am sorry that I will miss the service but Kelly and I are committed to a Walter-like activity - raising monsy for a Kenyan school.”
