He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland J. Mitchell Sr. and Della Mitchell (Vinton); his wife Delores Mitchell; and his brothers, Patrick Mitchell and James Mitchell.
He is survived by: his son David Mitchell (Elizabeth) of Greenfield; his sisters, Lilli Hirschfeld (Ronald) of Indianapolis and Joann Arnold (Jack) of Bloomington; and his sister-in-law Faye Mitchell of Richmond. He is also survived by 3 nieces and 1 nephew; 5 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
