He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rather and Vera Rather (McCabe); his wife Barbara Rather (Showalter); and his son Ronnie Rather. He is survived by: his children, Richard Rather, Jr. (Janet), Randy Rather (Terry), Rick Rather (Shyla) and Kim Raffaelli (Mike); his grandchildren, Levi Payne, Ashley Payne, Ethan Cottey, Chasity Groce, Sirena Rather, Natasha, William Rather, Kyrstin Rather and Josh McDonald; and his brother Paul Rather (LaDonna). He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
