He was predeceased by: his parents, George Mackey and Rachel Mackey (Vannatta); his wife Patricia Mackey (Neely); his brothers, George T. Mackey Jr. and James Mackey; his sister-in-law Helen Mackey; his sister Jane Murray; and his brother-in-law Lowell "Sticks" Murray.
He is survived by: his children, Shawn Mackey (Pam) and Merri-Ellen Daniel; and his grandchildren, Brock Michael Daniel and Mackenzie Jo Mackey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
