He was predeceased by: his parents, William Oscar and Jessie Hazel Perkins (Wood); his wife Clema Jean Shonkwiler; his brothers, James Wood "Woody" Porter and Robert Stanley Perkins; his great grandchild Noah Patrick Griffin; his in-laws, Marshall Schonkwiler, Malcom, Norma Shonkwiler, Harold, Joan Alcorn, Glen Scaggs and William Reeves; and his close friend Don Winings.
He is survived by: his children, Nancy Kay Thomson (Mark) of Sherman, TX, Anita Custis (Jerry) of Fillmore, IN and William Estel Perkins (Debbie) of Roachdale, IN; his grandchildren, Matthew Thomson, Jamie Custis Smith (Larry), Katherine Thomson, Jean Ann Custis Neese (Wesley), William Charles Perkins, John Custis (Bethany), Brooke Perkins Griffin (Brent) and Jay Custis (Rebecca); his great grandchildren, Madelyn Thomson, Steven Wayne, Brayden Wesley Neese, Shelby Lynn, Sydney Marie, Sarah Joyce Smith, William James Perkins, Andrew Gerald, Oliver Norman, Lucille Mae Custis, Liam Joseph, Laney Joy, Liza Jane Custis, Emma Lynn and Lila Grace Griffin; his sisters-in-law, Betty Perkins, Roberta Scaggs, Loisdene Reeves and Mary Shonkwiler; and his nieces and nephews, Claire, Gene, David and Denee.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home (4 Percy L Julian Dr, Greencastle, IN 46135). A masonic service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
