He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Akins and Elinor Buis (Irwin). He is survived by: his wife Anita Akins (Klebusch); his son John York (Kim); his siblings, Karen Sheldon (Larry "Steve"), Ruth Myers (Jon), Cheryl Robertson (Stephen), Richard "Arlie" Mitchell (Misti) and Tony Mitchell (Melissa); and his grandchildren, Mike York (Katie), Matt York (Serrina), Jaylen York, Jarrett York, Nick Long (Sarah) and Emily Long (Dalton Beasley). He is also survived by five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
