It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gladys June Akers of Greencastle, Indiana, born in Lockland, Ohio, who passed away on September 3, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dewey Woodall and Leega Poynter Woodall; her daughter Brenda Hendrix; her son-in-law Allen Crooks; her sister-in-law Madonna Woodall; her siblings, Pauline Woodall, Donald and Gene Woodall; her niece Kimberly Arnold (Hansel); and her nephew Mike Woodall.
She is survived by: her husband Owen "Dutch" Akers; her children, Janet Crooks of Thayne, Wyoming and James Akers (Star) of Columbia City; her siblings, Darrel Woodall (Sherry) of Greencastle and Diana Hansel (Doug) of Greencastle; her grandchildren, Davin Crooks, Rebecca Cory (Tom), Nicole Lowe (John), Stephanie Pitts (Tom), Brian Crooks, Colton Akers (Natasha) and Asacia Norris (Jay); her great grandchildren, Brooke Davies (Jacob), Mathew Cory, Mackenzie, Ava Lowe, Crosby, Owen, Olivia, Sidney Norris and Joe Crooks; her great great grandchildren, Will, Luke and Amelia Davies; and her close friend Robert Deakin of Greencastle. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
