He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Slager and Mabel Slager (Caswell); his daughter Lisa; his siblings, Evelyn Hage, Lucille Harrington, Lona Slager, Leona VanDonkelaar, Mae Slager, Belle Richards, Betty Hansen, John and Bob Slager; and his former wife Florence Vera Slager (Craig).
He is survived by: his wife Maria; his children, Deb, Betsy, Pete (Becky), Mark Slager (Melinda), Jim (Mandy), Rob (Teresa) and Joel Meyers; his grandchildren, John (Loritta), Robert, Thomas (Valarie), Andrew (Kayla), Lucas Slager, Danielle Warren (Matt), Mackenzie, Greyson, Bennett, Donovan, Bridget and Maura Meyers; and his great grandchildren, Chris, Hailey, Liam, Avery Slager, Chloe, Jackson, Isabella, Gunner and Maverick Warren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
