He was predeceased by: his former wife Clara; his parents, Marral and Agnes; his siblings, Helen Jean and Donald; and his great grandchildren, Graham Lessing and Hayden Kryder.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy; and his children, John Sluyter (Rhina), Cheri Wallace, Deborah Lessing (Barry) and Brenda Johnson (Tom). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
