He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Hire and Edna Hire (Dellinger); his sister Marvis Clark; and his half-siblings, Joan Baughman, Betty Nulf, Martha Moser, Warren, William and Tom Hire.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Weltz; his children, Jill Miller (David) of Goshen, Brian Hire (Patricia) of Omaha, NE and Rodney Hire (Nancy) of Elkhart; his grandchildren, Bryce Miller, Nikolaus Miller, Ashley Mishler (Caleb), Gracie Hire, Megan Hire, Shannon Hire and Carolyn Hire; his siblings, Norma Stahley of Elkhart, Jane Wade of Elkhart, Joy Patrick of Wawaka and David Hire of Ligonier; his sister-in-law Dorothy Hire of Millersburg; and his pet Marley.
Memorials may be given to Richville United Methodist Church.
