He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Charles Hughes, Sr. and Alice Jeanette Stanfield (Barringer); and his nephew Michael Kierre. He is survived by: his wife Ivy Ann Childers; his sons, Steven Michael Hughes (Tammy) of Goshen, IN. and Jeff Hughes (Barbara) of Goshen, IN.; his brother Robert Hughes, Jr. (Peg) of Pensacola, FL; his half-sister Cheryl Hughes of Culver, IN; his uncle Lamar Hughes of Temecula, CA; his grandchildren, Brooke Hughes, Molly Hughes, Danielle Johnson (John) and Andrew Brice Hughes; his great grandchild Scarlett Joann Christine Leazer; his stepsister Becki Bushong (Rich) of Howey; and his siblings-in-law, Paula Lively, Cindy Cupit (Terry), Shelly McCann (Dave) of O'Fallon, IL and Phillip Childers (Debbie) of Collinsville, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Elkhart Luncheon Optimist Club for local youth programs, or to a local veteran-owned business, OP1VET, whose mission is "Changing 1 Veteran's Life at a Time.".
