He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennett Byler and Lena Byler (Hartzler); and his brother Calvin. He is survived by: his siblings, Urbane Byler (Janet) of Goshen, James Byler (Marie) of Belleville, Jason Byler (Tillie) of Hesston, Ruby Freed (Russ) of East Lansing, Chipper Culler of Lyndhurst, Virginia and Sue Byler Ortman (Blake) of Comer, Georgia.; his wife Sherrie Thompson; and his sons, Joel Byler (Katie) of West Lafayette and Jarah Byler of Goshen.

Memorial donations may be given to Mennonite Disaster Service.
