He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Schwartz Calkins (Paul M. Calkins) and Richard Schwartz (Beth Chiaet Schwartz); and his grandchildren, Avery, Eli Calkins, Shaina and Leah Schwartz.

He retired from Perini in 1998, and he and Alma moved to Indianapolis in 2002, in order to be closer to family during Alma's battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
