She was predeceased by: her close friend Barbara Sealy; her husband Paul James; her sons, Paul and Mathew James; her parents, Calvin Sr. Lawson and Sarah Lawson; and her siblings, Calvin Jr., Reginald Lawson and Emma Reff.
She is survived by: her sons, Michael C. Smith and Kent James; her siblings, Irwin Lawson, Sylvia Lawson, Deborah Davis (Ernest) and Gwendolyn Parker; and her close friends, Shaunda Scott and James Addison. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
