He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Eakins and Beulah I. Eakins (Garner); his son-in-law Steve Coe; his siblings, Onnie Derssett, Peg Walser, Delbert Eakins and Mike Eakins; and his brothers-in-law, Woody Pearson, Darrell Derssett, Ralph Walser and Tom Mills.
He is survived by: his wife Rosalie Eakins of Gas City; his daughter Denise Coe of Gas City; his grandchildren, Holly Eakins, Natalie Coe and Stephen Coe; his great grandchildren, Caleb Day (Natalie), Alexis Murray (Miles), Colin Day (Haley), Corbin Day (Trista), Caiden Day (Racheal), Connor Day, Amelia Mahoney, Rosalie Mahoney, Landon Holland and Dorian Mahoney; his great great grandchildren, Grayson, Hudson, Emmett, Stella, Elliott and Hazel; his siblings, Georgiana Pearson, Nate Eakins (Diane), Doatzie Mills, Diane Fields (Brian) and Steve Eakins (Helen); and his close friend Tom Basham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Riverside Cemetery (321 S Broadway St, Gas City, IN 46933).
