He was predeceased by: his parents, Jimmie Barnes and Willie Mae Barnes of Arkansas; and his siblings, Leroy, Larry, Joe, Irvin, George, Norman, Claudia and Nina.

He is survived by: his siblings, James Edward, Gloria, Lucille and Earlean; and his brother-in-law William.
