Sherry Denise Bland Obituary
Sherry Denise Bland was born on September 30, 1969, in Gary, Indiana, passed away on February 8, 2019, in Gary, Indiana. She was the ninth child born to Jessie Mae Bland and the late William Atkin Bland Sr.
Sherry was a 1988 graduate of Horace Mann High School and attended the Gary Career Center. Sherry had a knack for arts and crafts and really enjoyed arranging flowers. Most of her life has been devoted to caring for her many nieces and nephews. There wasn’t a new card game or board game out that she didn’t teach them how to play even though she made the rules as she went. Sherry truly loved her family and friends unconditionally and always made herself available to anyone in need. She was a very caring and compassionate daughter, mother, aunt, and sister.
Sherry leaves to cherish her life: son Demetris Montgomery Jr. and life partner Demetrius Montgomery Sr, four sisters: Joy Bland-Hudson (Terry), Joyce Bland-French (Roderick), Carrie Bland, and Emma Bland. Two brothers: William Bland Jr. (Jennese) and Anthony Bland. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sherry is preceded in death by her father William Atkin Bland Sr, and sisters Angela Faye Arnold and Evelyn Evette Bland.
And now our beloved Daughter, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend is resting from her labor. Her new journey began with her departure from her earthly home to her Heavenly Home. Her work here on earth is completed and her soul is resting with our Savior Jesus Christ.
