He was predeceased by: his parents, Hattie Joyner and Herman Joyner; his wife Mable; his daughter Theresa Martin; his granddaughter Rikki Martin; his sisters, Gloria Spikener, Shirley Gray and Phyllis Brodie; and his half-sister Bessie Bell.

He is survived by: his daughter Carmen McCollum (Edward); his brothers, Victor Joyner (Sedonia) and Frank Joyner; and his grandsons, Roger McCollum, Ryan McCollum, Edward McCollum Jr., Reginald Martin (DeCleasha) and Cory Martin. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
