He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his sons, David Elea Jr., Mark Elea (Patricia), Paul Elea (Mari) and Chuck Elea (Arlene); his grandchildren, Stephanie, Blake, Cameron, Carly, Landen, Nicole, Joshua, Jonathan, Nia, Darrell Jr., Brandon, Austin, Olivia and Summer; and his sister Debra Ard. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Family Christian Center (340 45th Ave, Munster, IN 46321). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
