He was predeceased by: his parents, John Avelis, Sr. and Helen Avelis (Eckerman); and his sisters, Catherine Ford and Beth Ann Shaw. He is survived by: his mother-in-law Deborah Stefanatos; his wife Deborah Avelis; his daughters, Mary Catherine Avelis (Fred Danenfelser) of Kokomo, Indiana and Marguerite Kissinger (Michael) of Kokomo, Indiana; his siblings, John Avelis, Jr. (Mary Margaret) of Champaign, Michael Avelis (Victoria) of Virginia, James Avelis (Kim) of Terre Haute, Patrick Avelis (Marlene) and Terese Avelis of Terre Haute, Indiana; his grandson Knight Grayson Avelis Danenfelser; and his brothers-in-law, Joseph Ford and Randy Shaw. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
