He was predeceased by : his parents, Mable Ellen and Jack Whaley; his wife Dorothy Scruggs; and his siblings, Lois and Lee.

He is survived by : his children, Glenn Whaley Burkburnett (Brenda) and Vickie Piatt (Jerry); his grandchildren, Matt Piatt, Brad Piatt, Jay Whaley and Alana Trujillo; his great grandchildren, Aidan, Ashton, Anson, Abel Clay, Grayson, Brooklynn, Cora Jayne and Royce; and his siblings, Chuck Whaley (Joan), Peggy Whitt (Joe), Patsy Rucker and Becky Acuff (Mike).
