With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Velva Destival of Friendship, Indiana, who passed away on March 4, 2024 at the age of 100. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Balhorn and Antoniette Balhorn; her daughter Karen Mann (Dennis); her husband Robert Destival; and her siblings, Melvin, Lloyd, Merle, Marvin, Alan Balhorn, Verda Dixon and Marilyn Balhorn.
She is survived by: her children, Kaye Smith (Larry) and Roger Butts (Cynthia); her sisters, Glenda Corneli and Carol Christoffersen; her grandchildren, Terri Flynn, Michael Mann, Thomas Gurwell, Randall Gurwell, Heather Brubaker and Meredith Espenscheid; her great grandchildren, Mark Gurwell, Mike Gurwell, Tommy Gurwell, Dylan Gurwell, Dustin Gurwell, Avory Gurwell, Hope Brubaker, Logan Brubaker, Madeline Espenscheid, Makenzie Espenscheid, Megan Mann, Lindsay Shields and Sunny Shields; her stepchildren, Vicky Haggerty (Jerome) and James Destival; and her stepgrandchildren, Tyler Espenscheid, Shauna Kucera, Ryan Haggerty, Meghan Murphy and Nancy Destival. She is also survived by 4 step great grandsons; a step great great grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
