It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin H. Smith (Freetown, Indiana), born in Columbus, Indiana, who passed away on October 11, 2018, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Smith and Evelina Wilkerson Smith Arthur; his son Jeffery Dana Smith; and his children-in-law, Penny Smith and Dwight DeBord.
He is survived by: his spouses, Carolyn S. Deubner and Lanes; his children, Charles "Chuck" A. Smith (Tammy) of Columbus, Melanie Anne DeBord of North Vernon and Jennifer Dawn Hendrickson of Jennings County; and his half-brother Charles Smith of Jennings County. He is also survived by six grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
