He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis D. Spurgeon and Florence V. Spurgeon (Reynolds); his wife Barbara L. McCoy; his siblings, Janice R. Biery, Nancy Atchley and Robert A. Spurgeon; and his grandson Carlos Keanan Joseph Woodard.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter Judith E. Woodard (Spurgeon); his granddaughter Kaniesha Woodard of Indianapolis; and his son-in-law Gary Woodard (Charlotte) of Frankfort. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
