He is survived by: his mother Ollie Russell (Williams) of Illinois; his brother Daryl Gearon of South Holland, Illinois; his children, Jana Neese of Alabama, Derrick Russell Jr. "DJ" of Illinois and Temicka Russell of Illinois; his fiancé Kristal Lafary of Frankfort; and his granddaughter Jania.
