He was predeceased by: his sons, Randy Whitis and Eric Whitis; his parents, Freeman Whitis and Ira Willoughby (Raney); and his brothers, Billy Whitis and Timmy Whitis.
He is survived by: his wife Gail Whitis (Smith); his daughters, Shannon Chappell (Randy) of Fortville and Patricia Weidemann (Dana) of Geogia; his grandchildren, Jammie Johns, Christy Schneider, Amanda Troxell, Randall Whitis, Jr., Latia Whitis, Samantha Worley and Dalton Weidemann; and his brother David Whitis (Barbara) of Fortville. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
