He is survived by: his wife Joyce Bates; and his siblings, Carol Spaw, Sandy Roese, Betty Scriver, Bonnie Clutter (Jim), Joe Hargis, Shirley Moore, Diana Franklin, Cindy Fry, Terry Bates, Tim Hargis, Tom Bates and Maryann Weeks (Steve). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
