He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen E. Shears and Mary C. Shears Tucker (McHenry); his brother Terry S. Shears; and his pet Jussi. He is survived by: his wife Tara Shears; and his children, Angie Murphy (Chris), Ryan Shears (Faith), Tommie Shears and Alexis Shears. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Pine Hills Church (4704 Carroll Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46818).
