With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ruth Marie Hackett (Fort Wayne, Indiana), who passed away on December 10, 2024 at the age of 93. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Ruth Marie Hackett to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Mannweiler and Colleen Mannweiler (Barnett) of Fort Wayne; her husband Walter G. Hackett Jr., MD; her sons, Frank Hackett and Walter Hackett III; and her siblings, Donice Brown (Mannweiler), John and Grace Mannweiler.

She is survived by: her daughters, Jane Brammer (Mike) of Bloomington, IN, Janet Bir and Sue Hackett (Steve Bredemeyer); her daughters-in-law, Roberta Hackett III (Walter) and Kelly (Frank Hackett) Borne (Dale); and her great grandchildren, Madelyn, Kaitlyn, Evan, Abigail and Charlie.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the D. O. McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Covington Knolls (8325 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials may be made to Stillwater Hospice, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Arcola United Methodist Church and the Alzheimer's Association.

Nolan Schmidt wrote a sympathy message

“Condolences to the Hackett family from Nolan and Diana Schmidt. My parents (Schmidts) have been friends with the Hackett family since the 1920s. Walter Sr and Alverta were regulars at our farm and we regularly visited them in Fort Wayne. Walt Jr would spend a few weeks helping my father (Otto) on the farm each summer. Ruth and Walt often hosted Otto and Mable to Christmas eve after I left for the Air Force. Bless them and their wonderful hospitality. Ruth will be sorely missed. Blessings.”
