He is survived by: his mother Arlene Thelen (Pline); his wife Marsha Thelen; his children, Angela McCombs (Stephen) and Mark Thelen (Melanie); his grandchildren, Jessica McCombs, Nicholas McCombs (Brooke) and Benjamin Thelen; his great grandchildren, Violet, Wyatt and Finley; and his siblings, Susan Tucker (Larry), Elaine Wilkins (Dave), Sheila Wagner (Rick) and Scott Thelen. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
