He was predeceased by: his parents, Ranson Ackerson and Icylene Thomas; his daughter Zekiya Thomas; and his siblings, Barbara Jean, Joey and Freddy.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Thomas Jr., Darnell Swapshire, Darian Logan, LaQuinta Thomas, Mar'Quita Thomas and Brandon Hutcherson; and his sister Marcia Paterson. He is also survived by six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
