With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melvin Schaefer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who passed away on November 22, 2021 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Schaefer and Lydia Schaefer (Ohnesorge); his son Rick Schaefer; and his siblings, Mary Moss, Kenneth Schaefer and Donald Schaefer.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Schaefer; his children, Lori Johnson (Michael), Randy Schaefer (Sue) and Rod Schaefer (Kim); and his sister Karen Phillips (John). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be given in memory to his church or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
