Kate Purdy Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kate Purdy of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Reust and Catherine Mary Reust (Ness); her husband J. Wilbur Purdy; her siblings, Ed, Hank, Billy, Bernard, Paul, Tom, Mark, Dave Reust and Alberta Hine; and her daughter-in-law Becky Purdy.

She is survived by: her children, Wayne Purdy of Pendleton, Michael Purdy of New Haven, Patrick Purdy (Bilean) of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert Purdy (Linda) of Fairfield Twp, OH, Christine Strattman (Tom) of Indianapolis and Bill Purdy of Fort Wayne; her brothers, Harold Reust of Yoder and Lee Reust (Marilyn) of Huntington; and her sisters-in-law, Mary Reust of Huntington, Phyllis Reust of Huntington, Jean Fleck of Huntington and Mary Chamberlain of North Manchester. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A rosary was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Divine Mercy Funeral Home - Fort Wayne (3500 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46805). Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Jude Catholic Church (2155 Randallia Dr, Fort Wayne, IN 46805).
