We are sad to announce that on November 20, 2024, at the age of 93, James Copeland of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Copeland to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his father Millard Fillmore; his sons, James "Bob" Robert Copeland Jr. and Samual Dennis Copeland; his mother Mary Margaret Copeland (Roberts); his brothers, Richard Dean Copeland (Marilyn McDaniel) and Donald Gene Copeland (Wanda Hicks); and his great grandchild Joseph Andrew Walts.

He is survived by: his wife Martha "Marty" Jane Walker; his daughters, Joy Denise Reeser of Monticello, IN and Lara Michelle Rich of Fort Wayne Indiana; his daughter-in-law Susan Koekenberg Copeland Nagel of Malinta, OH; his siblings, Joan Copeland Culley (Richard) and Millard Carter Copeland (Esther Breedlove); his children, Samantha Stottlemyer (Abraham), Kaylynn Martin, Jillian Martin, Dana Keys, Daniel (Jessica), Yoquelet, Amanda (James), Ball, Mason, Micah, Kenzie, Kaleb Ball and David Knight; his stepdaughter Joy Denise Copeland; and his daughter Tamara Lynn Copeland of Fort Wayne, IN.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, November 30th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 30th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church (2417 Getz Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804).

Donations to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church or to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) are also welcome.

“Although we haven't gotten to see each other very often, you all have always been in my heart. Larry thought a lot of Jim & was amazed when he took up the banjo! We all have had our good times, & bad & always been just a phone call away. Jim is at peace now & with Bobby. Then the times in Reynolds when Jim was pastor. Bobby, Joy & Tammy were very young. Then came Lara! Jim was such a good pastor & great guy. I will miss calling on April Fool's Day! God bless all of you always! Larry & Mary Lou”
