He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur F. Toenges and Myrtle Toenges of Fort Wayne; his wife Maureen "Scotty" Calder; and his sister Jane Douglas. He is survived by: his children, Heather Hime (David) of Centerville, OH, Holly Messerall (Dan) of Croton, OH, Buck Toenges (Julianne) of Ft. Wayne and Ross Toenges (Angela) of Ft. Wayne; his grandchildren, Anna Shephard (Dan) of Columbus, OH, Alex Gentile (Alicia) of Columbus, OH, Andrew Hime (Sarah) of Columbus, OH, April Ratliff (Jared) of Monroe, OH, William, Ben, Christopher, Kate, Max, Muriel and Nari Toenges of Ft. Wayne; his stepgrandsons, Caleb, Joe and Noah Messerall; his great grandchild Calder Dylan Gentile of Columbus, OH.; his niece Sharon Ball of California; and also, Robert Douglas (Virginia) of Minnesota and Joe Douglas (Barb) of Pickerington, OH..
