He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Slater and Estella Slater; and his siblings, Richard Slater, Norma Routhier and Sharon Stiver.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Slater; his sons, Rodney Slater (Lori) and Larry Slater; and his grandchildren, Shawna and Ryan Slater.

Memorial donations may be given to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
