He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Schindler and Irma Schindler (Sprigler); his wife Cathy Schindler (Poe); his daughter Anita Olliges; his son-in-law Chris Olliges; his sisters, Mary Wolz and Erma Walter; and his daughter-in-law Liz Schindler.
He is survived by: his children, Jean Minter (Robert), Leon "Wayne" Schindler, Kathi Klotz (Martin) and Edward Schindler; his stepchildren, Billy Newkirk, Jr. (Angela), Jeffery Newkirk, Danny Newkirk and Dana Chappell (Mike); his siblings, Martha Fessel, Judy Kruer, Ricky Philpot, Dottie Thomas (Jim "Tall"), Elizabeth Timperman (Ed), Martin Schindler (Alice), Jimmy Schindler (Barbara) and Calvin Schindler (Vicki); and his brother-in-law George Wolz. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
