He was predeceased by: his parents, Eduardo Mendez and Ricarda Mendez (Vale); and his daughter Kathy Mendez-Borrowdale. He is survived by: his children, Michelle Navarro (Josh) of Fishers and Francisco Mendez (April) of Gulf Breeze, FL; his grandchildren, Christopher, Anna, Tyler, Dante, Hailey, Mikayla, Elysiah and Syvanna; and his siblings, Pete Mendez, Luis Mendez, Sonia Millikin and Nancy Mendez-Lopez. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
