He was predeceased by: his parents, Hobert Gibson and Hazel Gibson (Dickenson) of Virginia; his wife Barbara Gibson (Spear); and his siblings, Hobart Hines Gibson, Dennis A. Gibson (Denny), Lilian Wheeler and Linda Lou Gibson.

He is survived by: his siblings, Helen Sutherlin of Crawfordsville and Howard Gibson Sr. (Marilyn) of Kansas; his children, Tammy Lynn Gibson of Fillmore, Kenneth "Joey" Gibson Jr. of Fillmore and Jennifer JoAnn Gibson (Lance Trout) of Fillmore; his grandchildren, Jordan Clements, Brianna McKinney, Jessika Gibson, Haley McKinney and Austin Tyler Gibson; his great grandchildren, Aliyah Jane Clements, Calvin Tyler Gibson, Aurora Joann Clements and Aubree Clements; and his friend Red Hayden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
