He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Alfred J. "Fatty" and Mary Hollinden (Leonard); his wife Dorothy Hollinden of St, Henry; his children, Dennis Hollinden (Maria), Linus Hollinden of St. Henry, Thomas Hollinden (Beth) of Huntingburg, David Hollinden (Terri) of Ireland, Daniel Hollinden of Jasper, Leo Hollinden (Janelle) of St. Henry and Jane Mehling (Richard) of Huntingburg; and his siblings, Alfred L. Hollinden and Thelma Hancock. He was also cherished by thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
