He was predeceased by: his great grandchild Donovan Robert Stiening; his son Dennis Patty; his parents, Forest Stanley and Bertha Stanley; and his sister Maxine.

He is survived by: his sister Buck Medler; his uncle Marjorie Medler; his wife Anna Leah of Farmland; his daughter Lisa Chalfant (Greg); his daughter-in-law Julie Patty; his grandchildren, Matthew Patty, Aaron Patty (Lauren), Stephanie Stiening (David) and Deidre Chalfant; his great grandchildren, Benjamin Dennis Patty, Madeline Grace Stiening and Averie Mae Conner; his brother Howard Patty (Mary); and his sister-in-law Marsena Oxley (Lothair). He is also survived by niece, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Little Red Door of East Central Indiana in Muncie, Indiana.
