He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jesse Dowler and Nora Dowler (Taylor); his children, Jonathan Dowler (Gail) of Elwood, Nora Dye (D. J.) of Thorntown, Jerry Dowler (Karen) of Winchester, Jack Dowler, Jr. of Farmland, Chris Dowler (Tina) of Elwood and Geneva Lane (Steven) of Marion; his sister Vera Morris (Terry) of Elwood; his stepsisters, Kitty and Janie; his cousin John Bolin (Donna) of Ohio; his wife Betty Dowler; his siblings, Betty McCormick, Sarah Cobb and Lawrence Emerson Dowler; and his grandson Jacob Dowler. He was also cherished by 22 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family to help offset funeral expenses.
