He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Wright and Katie Davis Wright; his son James David Wright II; and his siblings, Melvin Wright, Lois Wright, Florene Anderson and Bessie Bryant.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Smith Wright; his children, Lee Wright (Kim) and Candi Dykes (Lee); his grandchildren, Christopher Wright, Taylor Faulk (Lucas), Lauren Dykes and Holly Wright; his great grandchildren, Walker Faulk and Wade Faulk; his sisters, Faye Bryant Goff, Doris Killebrew and Rubye Killebrew; and his siblings-in-law, Claudia Wright, Barbara Smith Bryant and Aubrey Smith (Linda). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of JD Wright to Sacred Roots Farm—a ministry supporting trafficked women.
