He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Smithley and Ann Stinnett (Watson); his stepfather Omar "Buck" Stinnett, Jr.; and his sister Elaine Williams. He is survived by: his wife Veda Lackey; his stepson Benny Yount (Janet); his siblings, Eula (Paul), Wanda Smithley, Jaqueline (Bob) and Eddie (Brenda); and his stepbrothers, Rodney Smithley (Patty), Rick Cox and Marion. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
