She was predeceased by: her parents, Allen Evans and Edith Evans (Harryman). She is survived by: her husband Mike Chowning; and her sons, Paul Johns (Kathi) and Jim Chowning (Kelly). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lu's honor to the First Baptist Church of Shelburn.
