He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester T. Schmitt and Esther L. Schmitt (Hoffman); and his siblings, Rose Ann Schultheis and Robert Schmitt. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Schmitt (Norman); his daughters, Andrea Schmitt (Jack Niebrugge) and Amanda Schmitt; and his siblings, Mary Jane Parr, Alice Moseley, Joe Schmitt (Betty), John T. Schmitt, Michael Schmitt and Jim Schmitt (Jennifer).

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
