He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel Gerst (Culley) and Elmer Gerst; his wife Marilyn Benchoff; his brother Charles; and his girlfriend Kathy Ewing.
He is survived by: his children, Eric Gerst (Charlotte), Rachael Gerst Marret, Paula Reilly (Rob) and Brenda Capuano (Mike); his grandchildren, Katie Reilly, Margaret Reilly, Erica Reilly, Sophia Marret, Noah Capuano, Emma Capuano, Jay Ewing and Sara Ewing; and his great grandchildren, Kamilah Hawks, Koda Williams and Lincoln Ewing.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Pierre Funeral Home (2601 W Franklin St, Evansville, IN 47712). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
