He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Joseph E. Franklin and Lillian Franklin (Wesighan); and his granddaughter Sarah Kathryn Redman. He is survived by: his spouse Neal W. Atwell; his children, Joseph Edward Franklin, III, Pamela Grizzel (Anthony), Kathryn F. Redman and Ellen W. Gintert (Andrew Brady); his grandsons, Andrew Brady II and William Franklin Gintert; and his great grandchild Athena Rose Nicole Robb.
