He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Sims and Georgia Thomas Sims; and his children, Thomas Edward Sims and Patricia Bell Scott. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Sims; his children, Verlean Cooper, Johnnie Sims-Madison, Myra Sims-Colon (Eddie), Christi Sims of Indianapolis, IN and Timothy Sims (DeVona) of Clarksville, TN.; and his siblings-in-law, Arnisha Fleming of Evansville, IN, Maggie Mae Sims of Sharon, MS and E. L. Fleming (Hazel) of Jackson, MS.. He is also survived by grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
