He was predeceased by: his wife Lavon Jim; his siblings, Johnny Mitz, Henrietta Steinhauser, Geraldine Hendrickson, Beverly Schneider, Barbara Tragar and Margaret Cravens; and his parents, John Mitz and Oda Mitz.

He is survived by: his nephews, Jeff Cravens (Sue), Greg Cravens (Donna), John Cravens, Tom Cravens (Susan) and William Severse.
